Tomorrow is my birthday. Since this is the second time I’ll celebrate the big day in Germany, I know to manage my expectations. For starters, instead of wishing a person “Happy Birthday” the Germans say “Herzlichen Geburtstag”. I promise it’s easier to pronounce than it looks.

Have you ever lived in a North American city? If so, you know we’re a car-dependent continent. Look at Canada. Statistics show that there are +23 million registered cars for 36 million people. That’s a lot of vehicles. It’s the second largest country in the world and it’s (almost) impossible to survive without a car.

Despite the number of social platforms available, many expat spouses are still drawn to blogging. And I get it. A blog provides a different online environment, one that prioritizes storytelling and journaling beyond the limits of 140 characters. But with this freedom comes responsibility. Don’t forget the decision to start a blog is a big commitment. They also time consuming, tedious to write and require long-term maintenance.
